WESNED recently organized an orientation for 24 Mother Group chairladies from Lilongwe East and Northern Dedza at Mtenthera TDC. Facilitated by Jane Paligolo and Sithembile Masamba of Emmanuel University, the event strengthened participants’ skills in promoting girls’ education and inclusive learning through interactive workshops and peer learning sessions.
Mayi Josophine Chirwa, Chairlady for Chiuzira Primary School, praised the practical benefits: “We gained new strategies to engage parents and keep girls in school. The networking opportunities will help us support each other across different communities.” Her remarks echoed the enthusiasm of many participants who left with actionable plans for their schools.
Facilitator Sithembile Masamba highlighted the event’s significance: “These women are change-makers in their villages. By equipping them with leadership tools and special needs education knowledge, we’re creating lasting impact beyond just one training.” The session particularly focused on roles and responsibility awareness.
WESNED remains committed to empowering women leaders who are transforming education access in rural Malawi, one community at a time.
