Through its WESNED Project, Emmanuel University brought ear health to the forefront by hosting an innovative ear cleaning exercise at Ching’ombe TDC. With 24 schools participating, the initiative underscored the university’s dedication to community health and creating supportive learning environments.
WESNED Project focuses on removing barriers to education by promoting inclusive learning and addressing health concerns. “Our goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can access quality education without preventable health challenges,” emphasized a university representative.
The initiative provided over 230 students with ear health services, including hygiene education and ear cleaning procedures led by medical professionals. Sarah Jere, a participating health professional, commented, “Many of these children were experiencing ear discomfort that could hinder their learning. This intervention is crucial in ensuring they remain healthy and focused in class.”
This exercise not only improved the immediate well-being of students but also strengthened ties between Emmanuel University and the local community. The university continues to demonstrate its dedication to holistic educational approaches by integrating health and wellness into its broader mission.
