EMUNI Women, a group comprising female employees and spouses of male employees, held a special bring-a-dish luncheon to officially launch their campus-based grouping. Under the theme of Unifying EMUNI Women.
The guest speaker for the event; Annie Mkandawire, Executive Director of Hope Mission Ministries and spouse of the General Secretary of the Evangelical Association of Malawi, the university’s parent body. Emphasized the importance of unity among women saying it is God’s given mandate. Also speaking at the event; EMUNI’s Human Resource Officer, Kamoza Chimungu encouraging the women to invest in themselves, no matter how small the investment and how to protect what is theirs.
Participants enjoyed sharing the food they brought. One of the participant Asher Mphambala, expressed satisfaction with the group’s objectives, noting, “It doesn’t discriminate as it brings every member of the community together.” Reiterating to this is the Group Chair Agness Kabula who emphasized on the need for women to interact and support each other, saying, “It provides a platform for women to express themselves freely while enjoying information much needed to help them manoeuvre everyday family hurdles”.
The event was a success, fostering a sense of community and support among the women of Emmanuel University.
